Pixelbook Go, Google’s first Chromebook is here at a reasonable price

In a first of its sorts, Google has finally launched its Chromebook laptop. Named Pixelbook Go, this was another addition that was displayed along with Google’s latest Pixel 4 phones, Pixel Buds earbuds and Nest products. All of these were showcased at an event launched by Google specifically for the fall season.

Chromebook is designed in a manner such that it beats Google Pixelbook, launched a couple of years ago, in many aspects. Instead of creating a tablet, Google thought of introducing a Chromebook itself. This has been designed in a manner such that it is quite light in weight which makes it easily portable. It also comes in 2 attractive colors, making it look quite attractive. Even the price is quite affordable.

Features of Pixelbook Go

This laptop is slim with a metallic body, made of magnesium. According to Google, magnesium scores better than aluminum in strength-to-weight ratio, thereby lowering the total cost. It comes in 2 shades-Just Black and Not Pink, as named by Google. Its base or bottom has a grippy pattern, which would make it easier to hold. Although looking at it may seem that it is made of rubber, it is of the same material as the entire laptop.

Pixelbook Go has rounded corners, which make the edges soft and smooth. Its curvy edges add to its good looks. On opening the Chromebook, one would be amazed to look at the large screen measuring 13.3 inches. It also has a lovely and huge touchpad. Now coming to the keyboard, its keys are quite soft to touch. They are designed in such a manner that there is hardly any noise heard when typing or pressing the keys.

Weighing around 2.3 to 2.4 pounds, it is quite easy and comfortable for people to carry it around. Although it measures half an inch in terms of thickness (which is not the thinnest in the market), its rounded-corners make it look quite smaller.

Quick in getting charged

Pixelbook Go consists of two USB-C ports – one placed on each of its sides. This enables it to charge faster. According to Google, even 20 minutes of charging Pixelbook can make it run smoothly for 2 hours at a stretch. Google states that as compared to its previous Pixelbooks, this one comes with a huge battery, which could last up to 12 hours on a full charge. The Pixelbook Go also has a lovely module designed for Bluetooth. It also comes with an amazing headphone jack.

Specifications and costing

Pixelbook Go comes with standard specifications, without any microSD card slot. The prices are put up in such a manner that it fits into most peoples’ budgets – the price range varies from $649 to $1399. The cost varies as per the various configurations designed.
